Responsibilities:
What You Will DoFamiliar with, and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers/chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand toolsIf qualified, drive to and from job sites throughout New England as well as perform general construction labor at the job site including loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight.
Conscientious regarding the safety of him/herself at times as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job siteAbility to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasksRegular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environmentTravel throughout the region with the Underground Crew, learning on the job
Qualifications:
What You Will NeedPrevious underground utility or communications construction experience a plusShow up for work daily and on time and ability to follow directionsHandle physical demands of construction dutiesMust possess and continue to possess a valid driver's license and pass random driver's license screeningsAbility to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasksRegular contact with co-workers and customersWithin 90 days of start date, company supplied safety training and certificationsLocal travel and overtime is available every weekAbility to understand and follow specific instructions and proceduresAbility to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Active Class A CDL desired but not requiredHydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plus, but not requiredWork Environment Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuouslyAbility to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noiseWork environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
